Don't Leave Home Without It

Jimmy Legs.

Jimmy Legs, Pat's Rubber Legs, The Pickle, The Turd, The Stupid Fly. Call it what you want, one thing is for sure, it catches fish. I don't leave home without this one. It's basically a variation on a Girdle Bug, with one major difference- instead of round rubber legs, you tie the legs and antennae with Flex Floss, which adds a lot of wiggle.  Dead drift it near the bottom, and don't be shy about giving it a twitch every once in a while to get it up and get those legs moving.

Nice photo, I see those stoneflys all the time when I'm turning over rocks in the winter and in the spring....but never knew the pattern imitating them.

James and Patrick, that is pretty clever. Add it to the list.

Jeff, thanks. There are a bunch of pattern's that imitate stonefly nymphs ranging from super realistic to pretty general like this one. If I had to pick one, it would be this one, it's a fish magnet. I'm not a fish, but my guess would be that it has everything to do with all the wiggle going on that mimics a real stone trying to get back to the stream bottom after it's been knocked loose.
